2025 Kindness Wins Grants
Santa Monica Tennis Collective
Kindness Wins announced a $10,000 Grant and the first Medal of Kindness of 2025 to the Santa Monica Tennis Collective for their work to help tennis players in their community who lost everything in the Los Angeles fires. The SMTC immediately mobilized, receiving hundreds of requests from players who lost their homes in the Palisades and Eaton fires and initiated Impacted Player Gear Replacement Drives to get them supplies they needed to continue playing. Our grant will help fulfill these requests and get more players back on court as soon as possible. Madison Keys also gave SMTC a Medal of Kindness for the incredible amount of time and effort they’ve put into helping their community. Learn More
2024 Kindness Wins Grants
Houston Tennis Club
On World Kindness Day in 2024, Kindness Wins announced a $1000 grant to Houston Tennis Club (HTC) and their HOUTEX event. HTC is a non-profit dedicated to increasing visibility and creating a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ athletes. Their own GLTA tournament, HOUTEX, has been hosted since 1980 to raise money for local charities in the Houston area. The $1000 grant helped cover costs of this incredible event, which this year raised money for The Normal Anomaly Initiative (TNAI). Kindness Wins also contributed a racquet signed by Madison Keys and a Kindness Wins sweatshirt for the silent auction.
St. Pete Tennis Center (SPTC)
On Giving Tuesday 2024, Kindness Wins announced a $10,000 grant to the Tennis Foundation of St. Petersburg, the non-profit that runs the St. Pete Tennis Center (SPTC). After Hurricanes Helene and Milton brought devastation to Florida, Madison Keys and Kindness Wins wanted to contribute to bringing tennis courts back to safe, playable conditions. The SPTC and its 20 courts received significant damage from both storms, making it impossible for them to safely run their tennis programs, which include classes for the general public and underserved youth in the community. Damage included storm surge and loss of court surface, loss of 10 light poles due to 100+ mph winds, and damage to fencing and maintenance supplies.
Courting Kids
In June of 2024, Kindness Wins pledged a $15,000 grant to the City of Charleston’s Inner City Youth Tennis Program: Courting Kids! Run in partnership with the Lowcountry Youth Tennis Association, Courting Kids provides recreation and competitive tennis experience for youth 5-17. The children go through a comprehensive program that enables them to build self-esteem and personal successes through a variety of tennis experiences.
Courting Kids is one of the beneficiaries of the funds raised by the Credit One Charleston Open Pro-Am. It was chosen by Madison Keys to continue growth of the sport she loves in one of her favorite cities in the United States. This grant will be used to offset registration fees and provide tennis equipment, snacks, and incentives for the children from June 2024 to May 2025.
Denton Johnson Tennis Corp
On Kindness Wins Day 2024, Kindness Wins pledged a $5,000 grant to the Denton Johnson Tennis Corp. Started in 2001 by Tina McCall-Waters, the DJTC helps underprivileged children in Eatonville, Florida by providing an outlet for social connections and homework assistance, all while teaching the basics of tennis. This grant will go toward helping accommodate more students in the 2025 season as well as covering facility and equipment costs.
The Reese Brantmeier Project
In May of 2024, Kindness Wins pledged a $15,000 grant to Reese Brantmeier for The Reese Brantmeier Project! A recent Medal of Kindness recipient, Reese will be one of the beneficiaries of the funds raised by the Credit One Charleston Open Pro-Am. A collegiate tennis player at the University of North Carolina, Reese has been raising money to restore two local tennis courts for the neighborhood surrounding the elementary school she attended in Wisconsin, an idea she’s talked about since she started playing tennis as a child. Through the years these courts have deteriorated and become unplayable, and Reese has vowed to bring them back to share her love of tennis with the next generation! Visit www.reesebrantmeierproject.com for more on what Reese is doing in her community.
2023 Kindness Wins Grants
The Bus Lane Kids: In October 2023, Kindness Wins granted $500 to The Bus Lane Kids. Founder Andy Mizell has worked for the last seven years to introduce tennis to inner city public schools in Nashville. The catch? He teaches tennis in a bus lane. The Bus Lane Kids program is currently raising money to try and build real tennis courts for its students. The Bus Lane Kids is a National Junior Tennis League after-school tennis program that’s free for underserved students at Margaret Allen Middle School in Nashville, Tennessee. There are approximately 40 total 6th through 8th grade students who participate at this time. Donate To The Bus Lane Kids
